Electrocaloric effect in triglycine sulfate under a strong internal bias field

J. Fischer, D. Hägele and J. Rudolph

A new study investigates how an internal bias field influences the electrocaloric effect in triglycine sulfate (TGS). Using a direct, time-resolved high-resolution method, the authors observe both normal and inverse electrocaloric effects depending on the direction and strength of the applied electric field.

The results show that the internal bias field strongly modifies the dynamic caloric temperature response and that the effect persists from the ferroelectric into the paraelectric phase.
